We had a good day fishing, about 50 grouper and 8 keepers, biggest was 29" shown below. I was catching a lot of heat about not getting a keeper from all on board, especially my son, but late in the fourth quarter the old "tight end" hauled in this one on a hail Mary pass with 5 minutes left in the day. Earlier, I lost one even bigger when the line broke in a 80 lb. leader and again the crowd gave me the old fumble rooskie cheer.

December Buddies trip

fish caught by Allan Bristow on a pilchard

Here is living proof (actually dead) that I am a true MSC fisherman and not just a social member of the Marco Sport Drinking Club.  Well, maybe I should have worn a different shirt.  These salmon were caught on the Baldwin River in Michigan this fall.

Joe Cafferelli's boat:  Joe Cafferelli, Jim Muller and Ron Linn got 8 nice keepers by noon, but could only keep 6.

It was a great day!!!

Crew were Elio Duran,Fred Kouhi and Jim Mueller........We drift fished in 3ft seas...A little sloppy...We had 5 Reds at 20 1/4 to 3/8 that we did NOT keep, but the 6 in the pictures ranged in size from 20 3/4 to 23 3/4. It was a good day and I had a good crew.......On the way home the law stopped us....But we were good

Catching Tarpon is hard work!

Here are 2 shots that show how hard it is to catch a tarpon:

#1: Pete fighting the tarpon while Ed Brown helps to get it to the boat
#2 Pete recuperating on the bow while Ed tries to catch one

These pictures were taken by Ron Linn who was with Jim Mueller in another boat, watching the action.

Attached are 2 pictures from the offshore tournament this past Thursday, August 18. Carl Bressan and Tony Saputo fished with me.
Carl caught a large mutton snapper at the Marco Sportfishing Reef and I caught a big red grouper about 18 miles offshore.

Recently caught off Boca Grande.

Thought the guys in the fishing club would be interested in this. My friend in the sheriffs' department in Sarasota sent it to me.  They are out there.......

August

This was the result of having too much fun on a recent trip to the Keys.  Harry Wilson’s Mahi-Mahi was fifty-two inches long and thirty pounds heavy.  Other club members Debbie and Harold Fleming, and Lois Wilson were there, giving Harry some heavy competition.

John Cavanagh, Mike Mueller and Jerry Collins aboard the "Fast Dance" for a little Grouper, Permit and Snapper fishing. Grouper from 25" to 30". Great day, great conditions.

We lost 14 permit... but at least I got this 36" snook.....

Here is actual photographic evidence that I really do fish.  Here I am trolling for Spanish Mackerel

I have selected a silver and red King Spoon, on a Seaweed Bloodline Leader, tipped with an Oscar Mayer wiener.  Check the leader board to see how I did.

Watch those teeth on the Spanish Mackerel!

These are photos of our Grouper trip on Sunday May 29th. Bert Hoell’s Pursuit, with Ed Vesely, Ray Rosenberg and Helio Duran (Bert’s Friend & Neighbor), left at 0715 and returned at 1700 in the rain. Caught lots of grouper and pesky sharks and had 3 Grouper keepers. Also attached is the recipe Linda prepared for the grouper that evening, complete with photos. It was yummy in the tummy. The dinner was accompanied by a salad of tender field greens with roasted fresh figs, toasted walnuts, crumbled Queso Fresco and a white balsamic raspberry vinaigrette. Broccoli was the veggie.

Marco Sportfishing Club members traveled to Summerland Key to help control the Atlantic Dolphin population this last weekend.
Kevin Wright and Bill Stephens of the Marco Sportfishing Club and Brad Boersma a co-member of the Naples club were the crew for Capt. Brad's expedition.
The adventure started at Islamorada Wide World Sportsman. A dinner wait of one hour and forty five minutes was
declined and we ran on down the road to a restaurant on the water for dinner. We arrived at the "House" about 9:30 P.M.

Hi All....Hey.....Grouper are Back......We were out on Sat.4-2 on Fred's boat " Jolly Roger" ended up about 30 miles out.Nine miles north of the R tower.
We came back with 7 nice fish one under the limit......Nice day on the water
Frank the guy in the white shirt had a 33 in. That fish will make the leaderboard on our club .....

Well, it's in the books!  The first actual kayak trip took place and was attended by a hardy group of six fisher men and women.  No one dumped their boat, rolled over, got lost or run over by a powerboat.  Everyone caught fish and earned a new respect for sitting on the water. Trout, Snapper, Flounder, Sail Cats, Jacks, and way to many Ladyfish filled the boats all day.  For the first timers it was a real experience to paddle over 4 miles, fish, ride the tides, play fish and stay out of the mangroves and having to do most all at the same time. The good news is when you ground a kayak you don't need to call Sea Tow!

At the end of the day some were heard to say this was the first time all day they knew what I was doing for sure as seen in the photo.Special thanks to Jay for filling in and getting all the boats headed in the right direction for the day!

Jim got a 31 3/4" Red Grouper Ron got a 31 & a 30  on Joe's boat Sunday.
