May 2010 |
There was a Buddy List trip on May 18 and
the weather was wonderful with light winds.
The fishermen fished Blind Pass, Cape
Romano, Coon Key Pass and Gullivan Bay. The
group of six caught Sheepshead, Spanish
Mackerel, Spotted Trout, and lots of
Sharks. Of course, there were many Catfish,
some were very large.
That evening, the group with their wives
met at Porky’s for dinner and drinks. The
chef at Porky’s cooked up some of the fish
in bite sized portions for appetizers. It
was a fun day for all. The next Buddy Trip
will be in July. Email Joe Perino
rivpress@aol.com for questions or
comments.

Announcement regarding Aprils General
Meeting:
We are taking our April MSC General Meeting very
seriously. I know it is April 1st, April Fools Day, but we are
not fooling around. We are going to kick off our meeting with at least 10
round tables. You can move from table to table and pick up a bunch of
information from some of our very best anglers. So get your questions
ready. We plan to have 4 tables set aside to cover Backwater Fishing
covering the North and South ends of the island, with info for both Bay and
Backwater Boats.
One table will be dealing with How and Where to fish for King Fish, and
remember April XX is the King Fish Klash. Seaweed will be bringing Spoons,
Leaders and other gear all aimed at helping you be a contender in the King
Fish Klash. So get ready to gear up and to plan you strategy.
Don’t forget those Knots we say we are going to learn
each year, you know, the one that could have saved that trophy that got
away. And how about a knot that keep you from losing your boat off your
lift, again. Remember the Law of the Sea, if your boat floats to my dock
with out you in it, it’s mine.
And for those of you that wonder what that Shooting
List that gets past around is about, we will have a table where you can find
out.

January 2010 |
Hi Mike,
Please place a note in the February News Letter that we are planning a New
Captains event for March.
The idea here is to assist our members with boats that are new to the area
or are not familiar with offshore waters. We would place an experienced
captain on each boat to provide what ever help or guidance that Captain may
require.
There will be more discussion about this event at the February General
meeting.......

There will be a buddy list outing on January 13, 2010. It will be a
pied piper type of fishing trip to the Coon Key area and we will keep in
touch on channel 78.
Fishing in this area
will allow boats of all sizes to participate. At the end of the day we
will have a fish tales meeting. This trip will be an effort to get
everyone on the buddy list out on the water for the day.
All club members are

in the outing will be more memorable.
Email me and let me
know:
-
If you can take people on your boat and how many you can
accommodate.
-
If you have no boat and need a ride.
-
If you have a boat but would prefer to ride with someone else.

June 2009 |
Just a heads up in case you did not see the paper this morning.
Collier County is considering a $75 fee for the free parking passes we
have on our cars. We went to Caxambas Park this morning and picked up
new ones for our cars. This could definitely impact the parking for
picnics at Sarazen Park.
But the big difference this year - no longer will they go on the rear
bumper. They will be inside the car, on the driver side window (near
the MICA sticker). Anywhere else and you will get a ticket.
Just thought we would pass along this little tidbit. If you can get
your parking pass soon, you might save $75 per car!

The club has taken a position on two important issues. You can
click below to read the documents. 1) The EPA is reviewing a
request to increase the ethanol in gasoline from 10% to 15%. Ethanol
has been been linked to damage in marine engines. We oppose this
change.

from our president.
2) The National Park Service is considering changes to the rules
governing use of the everglades.

As you know, club members have wide interests in outdoor sports and, from
time to time, have used club general meetings to make announcements to
assist organizing independent activities ( e.g. scuba diving in the Keys ).
In response to the interest of several members, individuals will be making
announcements at club general meetings relating to organizing sport
shooting, that is sporting clays, trap and skeet. These events will be
independently organized and each will pay his/her own expenses. You may wish
to contact Mike Assaf ( mva34145@hotmail.com ) it you're interested in
participating. |
